"PARK(ing) Day "

"PARK(ing) Day "

PARK(ing) Day is a annual open-source worldwide event where citizens, artists and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public places. It is a global movement, with organizations and individuals creating new forms of temporary public space in urban contexts around the world. PARK(ing) Day coveres 975 Parks in 162 cities of 35 countries on 6 continents.

PARK(ing) Day aims to remind all that the city is primarily a space for people. Public space for pedestrians is the most important part of the city. After all, the city comes to life when people come out of their houses on streets, squares, in squares, and parks. People are happier being able to communicate with family and friends outdoors or reading their favorite book on a bench in a cozy street.

European Mobility Week 2014 officially lasts from 16 to 22 of September, with almost 2000 European towns and cities participating. Under the banner of "Our streets, our choice", this year's European Mobility Week aims to encourage citizens to 'reclaim' urban spaces to create the city they want to live in. Throughout the week, the relationship between land use and quality of life will be examined.
