The Kosachs, who made a profound impact on the contemporary cultural life in Ukraine, spent two periods of their lifetime in Lutsk. The future poetess Lesya Ukrainka, who was then just a little girl, used to run down the streets of the Old Town in the company of her brother Mykhailyk and sister Olia.
The children planned lovely performances together and, staging them in the yard of Lubart’s castle, rejoiced and gained inspiration from the antiquity. It was here that Lesya wrote her first poem called “Nadiya”. Today there are two museums in Lutsk that tell the story of this glorious family.
